I agree with you guys. I always let my 292 warm up until I'm at least over 115 degrees. Sometimes till its completely hot. When its fully warmed up, it runs at about 180 degrees.

I agree that engines will wear out more quickly when operated cold, but they also warm up a lot more quickly when driving than when idling. Which is better, I don't know. It's probably best to operate the car in northern California rather than Minnesota, but I don't have that option!

I have 210,000 miles on my '92 F-150 just started and driven away almost in any weather. I might warm it up for a minute or two when it's below zero, but the temp will still not read on the gage before I drive away. Even if it's wearing out a lot faster than it would have if warmed up, that's plenty of mileage for me out of an engine. It will take me an awful long time to wear out a new engine at that rate and with the amount I typically drive. I'll probably get sick of the vehicle and want to make some changes before I wear out the engine!

My friend installed a V10 in a 32 Ford roadster. He did nut cut the firewall and used an original 32 hood. It is a tight squeeze but it fit. After seeing that, you would think a V10 would fall in a Slick.

Have you considered buying a Super Duty with the v10 and switching a Slick body onto the chassis?

I haven't really thought about going to a new Super Duty chassis for a couple reasons. First, the wheel base would be way long for my short box '64 I'd imagine. I don't really want to go to a long box. And second, I really want a solid front axle under the truck.. of course you could swap one under an SD, but I figure why not go with a good 3/4 or 1 ton late 70's chassis? It has the disk brakes, it's simple, I can get a lift for it easily enough. Of course there would be some fabricating but there's no way around that for this idea. But who knows... maybe I'll talk myself into a long box. That's the only thing holding me back from that idea right now.

I'm gonna go look at that '32 roadster right now tho! that sounds awesome

that car was rad! i'm definitely excited about going out and lifting the tilt hood open on my '64 and showing off a v10 like that! that would be awesome!

I have a 4.6 liter dohc in my 79 F100. I am currently routing the wiring harness and making holes needed in firewall to accomodate everything, I have not done a whole lot in Jan & Feb too much other stuff going on. I have started laying out the wiring and marking inner fender wells where mods need to be made to mount stuff to.
