King pin bolt

Is the bolt that holds the king pin in tapered. If so which way does it come out. I have been hitting it on the flat side and it ant budging. I have it soaking right now in rust eaters. Don't want to hit it on the thred side.

to knock it out put the nut on the threaded end to protect the threads and whack it. Hitting the non threaded end is going the wrong way.

hit the thread side. And when that pin comes out and you try to pound out the king pin DON'T! I smashed my thumb bangin' on the king pins with a hammer and it is still healing. Just take the I beams off and take 'em to the local shop and get 'em pressed out and back in it will save a lot of pain!

When I take the pins out I make sure the truck is securely supported on the frame. I put a jack under the pin jack it up as far as I can without moving the truck and hit the arm right behind the pin. That usually works for me unless its a real stubborn pin.

It ant comming out so I will be taking the beams off this weekend and getting a 12 ton press from Harbor Freight to get the job done. The King Pins are real dry to so I will need it to get them out to and if anyone needs to use it in the area they are welcome to come to the house and use it for a beer or two
