rocker arm and header questions

first off, i need to know what i have to do to adjust the rocker arms(harland sharp 1.73 rollers)...i've been told that i can tighten them down to zero lash, then a quarter turn past that. but do i need to do anything first to the hydraulic lifters? soak them in oil? anything? and for the header questions....i think that summit offers a hedman(or hooker...cant remember) for about 199, but there is always borla(750...ouch) and mac(399 aint SO bad) and i was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these(btw...88 f150, hopefully soon to be without a 300 i6 and home to a new 460). thanks for any info,
mike

Mike, I stick my hydraulics in a can of fresh oil overnight before I install them...or you can take a oil squirt can and pump oil into them if you don't want to wait untill the next day. You do need to rotate the engine as you set the valves for each cylinder, the instruction on how to do that usually comes with the cam kit. If you can't find any instructions, post a note back and I'll look for mine. Don't forget to wipe off the engine oil off the bottom of the lifter and then apply the "cam lube" before installation.
I use Headman headers and have no complaints other than to keep the headers sealed I had to purchase copper reusable gaskets (around $40.) Mine have been in two years now. BTW there are outfits that will paint (coat) the headers with a heat resistant coating for under $100 if you want to "dress-up" the engine compartment...look in the yellow pages under metal-coating.
