I have a 69 F250 and was gonna restore it as a hot rod project. I also have a 6.0 PSD good core engine complete with trans and PCM and was thinking about mabey turning the project into a built diesel hot rod. Iv'e built a coulpe gassers but never a diesel set-up. The weight might be way to much, but it could be an intresting project since i have alomost everthing i need. Just wanted some thoughts.

Even though you're starting with a 250, the front axle & springs may not be up to the task..... that diesel block is a whole bunch heavier than anything that was ever intended to be stuck in that old truck.
The frame rails will probably need to be boxed as well, just to gain the additional torsional stiffness needed when that diesel starts putting out torque.... way more torque than any of the gas motors that the frame was designed for.
Ya theres a 500 LBS difference in the weight of the gasser and the 6.0 PSD. I have thought about the frame as you mentioned and have some ideas to give the strength it needs without sacrifing alot of extra weight.

I wouldn't box the frame all the way back, but if its not boxed ahead of the cab already I'd box it there, then add some cross members throughout the length of the frame
