Superchip programmer question

I bought a Superchip about 4 months ago for the simple reason of gaining diesel mpg's. I've keep it on the middle setting (tow safe) for these 4 months and really don't notice a bit of increased milage.
The guy I bought it from said he always kept it on the top setting (preformance) and he got about 3 mpg better but I'm afraid to for the reason of I don't want to chance anything going wrong with this $$$$$ engine.
I drive it like an old lady 99% of the time but I find myself maybe once every 2 weeks stopping a sports car from thinking I'm slower then him because I'm big and stinky :-)

Question is: Should I go down to the economy setting or up to the preformance setting to see better MPG's and if leaving it on the Preformance setting but driving it nicely can do ANY stress on the 6.0.
Thanks

Ray is right. Go down to the 6.0 fourm and you will see what they are all running on their trucks.

Welcome to FTE.

OK, My brother has been running the superchip on his 06', 6.0 for 2 years now. He keeps it in performance tune all the time because he does not pull anything. I ran superchip in my truck for 4 years and never had a problem with it. I thought it was fast untill I went to DP-TUNER.

Good luck.

I ran the hypertec programmer on my 7.3 before I got the DP tuner and on the highest setting did get a minute mpg gain but nothing on lower settings

I would imagine the superchip s the same

Welocme to FTE.

To an answer your question generally speaking your performance tune will give you the best milage, the key is to keep your foot out of it.

Miller_Feed is right though, you should check out the 6.0 forum, i think they could offer alot more tech info on your tuner.

First off you'll see better mileage with the performance tune then you would with the economy, however you have to be able to drive it in an orderly and sane manor. Also the main purpose of any chip and/or flash tuner is to increase performance first(especially when you talk about the off the shelf ones, you can do more with a custom one, but your talking about an off the shelf one) and then mileage maybe(that's right only a maybe) an added benefit, but it is not promised. The best thing that you can do is drive it easy for the most part and every now and then allow the truck to stretch it's "legs" and have some fun or else you'll have problems with sticking turbo veins etc. Most 6.0 owners(myself included and I did come from where you starting from except I had BullyDog) would tell you it would be better to get rid of the tuner you have and get the SCT with custom tunes and the tunes can be written specifically with how you drive and what you want to accomplish with it and if you mod it further you can change the program(s) for that as well. I know it's not what you want to hear, but unfortunately alot of people have gone thru alot of problems to come to some sort of consesus for the 6.0 and that's pretty much it if you want to go down this way of using a tuner.
