Cab Light Template

Is there such a thing as a template for installing cab lights? I would like to add a set to my truck, and thought about trying to make one at the salvage yard. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks ron01sd. I called 2 Ford locations locally and they don't know of any template. I also thought that the wire harness went down the pass. side to the kick panel, but they said I need the one that goes to the overhead console.?. I haven't heard of that. I guess I will keep looking.

There are two harnesses, one for if you have an overhead console, and one for if you do not have it.

Dave - I installed an aftermarket set a few months back - I measured my bro-in-laws and used some 2" wide masking tape and marked all centers. If you need measurements I can get them for you - IIRC its center -11"- 8" to outside lite. PM if you want exact backset.

Thanks Bill! I did find a link on an old post for a site called motoman. It pretty much describes what you are saying on the spacing. If you know the measurements you used, I would appreciate them. Going off topic, I noticed you did the SS HPX, did it make any difference for you? I am almost 100% sure I want to do it, if nothing else but to help even out the oil pressure. Thanks again, and thanks to everyone that replied!

Dave - The hpx makes it idle better, smoother, I noticed that right off the bat. Its raining like crazy here now - I'll get you the measurements tomorrow and post em up. Edit - Thanks Brandon -Just read your post- Thats the same lights I put on With the chrome around em. I like em a lot. Dave -Just a hint -when you finish and let silicone set up for @an hour or so -Use the hose and double check for leaks b4 you put the headliner back up. Good Luck

OHHH, Bill I would like to see the chrome mounts. Mine was the kit that matches the factory lights with the black mounts. I have a buddy that LOVES chrome for his truck, and he might like the extra bling, but I am staying with the black accents on the red truck. see my gallery for pics.
