my off the wall some-what educated guess would be to say yeah....but if i told you i was 100% sure, youd probably go out, try to swap it out, then it wont work (just because my luck is that way) and youd feel like buying a bus ticket to my town and kickin me in the ass..... the only thing i would see stopping it from being the same one is the supercharger......but who knows? maybe if you went online and searched for part numbers, youll come up with somethin....just a off the wall some-what educated guess....

hahaha that was great whiteford, thanks anyway man wish it was true. ok well dang i'll just have to pay the extra four hundred million dollars extra for one nothings real cheap on these trucks..
I know that had to replace a fuel pump once on one. I still to this day remeber how much a customer had to pay for it as he didn't buy and extended warranty $550

If you mean a gen 2 L when you state, "on one", then you need an "s" on the end of the word "pump" since there are two.
And who in the world would pay $550 for just the pumps, when they could upgrade to the Walbro 255lph pumps, while paying just a tad over $200 bucks for better pumps?
Was this at a dealership? If so, that's a pretty penny to cough up when better replacement pumps can be had for a lot cheaper.

yes it was at the dealer, as i work at the dealer. the new aftermarket pump in which you are refering to I will agree with you it is a better pump for the 98-02 Lighting.

I kinda figured, based on the info in your sig.
BTW, the Gen 2 Lightning model years were '99 to '04.
No Lightning was made in '98.

theyre not a cheap truck to start with......so what made you think theyd be cheap on parts? ford is always lookin to nickel and dime its loyal customers....i should know I worked at a dealership, these service writers would sell theyre grandmother for a snow-cone.....

If you look at production date which is what we go by to order parts it could say 8/98 although concider a 99.

I could see how that might apply to other vehicles. Unfortunately however, it doesn't apply to the Gen 2 Lightning.
Ford started producing the 5.4L engines for the Lightnings on January 14, 1999. The build/production date for the 30th Lightning produced was two months later, being March 16, 1999.
I don't know the build/production date for the first Lightning produced in 1999, but judging by the date of number 30, I feel safe in guessing it's probably early March or late February of 1999.
I'm not trying to a jerk. That's why in my earlier post, when I corrected the info you posted, I closed with a thumbs up smiley.
I make mistakes too bro. We're all human. I just wanted to make sure if a noob came across your post, he would have the correct info regarding the years the L was available.
As my teenage son say's, "it's all good!"

The first 10 were deveolped in mid to end of 98 for the motor trend shows.
