Howdy,

You may be able to use a much newer axle with 6 lug hubs or your axle using the 6 lug hubs too...

I have done a little look-up action with Eaton axles and it appears that the Eaton 1350 (which is the one that Ford and others used from about 1948 until the 60's, ALL used the same axle bearings. It also appears that the model 1350, 13600, 13800, and 13802 used the same cups and bearings too.

I have been looking for a good ring and pinion for my 1350 for quite some time and finally found a complete 3rd member (actually Fleetpride in Seattle found it for me)

My Eaton service manual indicates that a lot of parts for the above axles are the same.

Even Rock Auto has wheel bearings.....Under International Harvester 1972, REAR AXLE , seals and cups and bearings for the Eaton 1350 were the same Timken part numbers for all the other axles above. This indicates that the hubs are the same. I would want to verify it by finding both and inspecting the hubs but they appear to be the same. Ford went to a 6 lug BUDD wheel in 1956. I don't know if they are easier to find but I'll bet there's more choices for wheels.

I am going to use my 5 luggers now since I have a new set of radial 9.00-20 tires and rebuilt lock-ring wheels. But if I had it to do over again I would have found myself a set of 6 lug axles.

Oh, and by the way according to my 1948-1955 Chassis parts manual, the hubs and axles in my single speed 6.80:1 Timken axle as my Eaton 1350 2 speed.....same part number.

Cheers,

Rick
