Im lookin to upgrade from a 99 f150 5.4l to a 2000-03 7.3l and most of the trucks im finding have over 100k mikes on them, im wonderin if thats considerd high milelage for a diesel and if i should be consernd thanks any and all insight.
why do you need diesel? if you dont tow serious miles or tow something heavy you maynot need it. Diesels are made for longevity.100k is a walk around the park for a well maintained diesel
290,000 on my Cummins with no problems. Over 200,000 on my last Powerstroke with no problems. 100k is just getting broke in.

We routinely haul a 6 place enclosed v-neck snowmobile trailer to Michigan's Upper peninsula with 5.4L powered trucks and they have plenty of umph to haul this load the 350 miles each way. Driving at 70mph, we typically get between 6-10mpg with a loaded truck, and towing about 9-10,000 lbs. We've used 6.0L powered Excursions and a couple powerstroke quad cab pickups and they average right around 9-10mpg as well at same speeds with the same load. IMO, buying a new truck just to haul sleds and quads won't pay for itself, especially if you have a good running 5.4L.
As far as diesel engines go, we've got 2-dodge cummins with over 300,000 on the farm and they're still pulling strong. Don't have any powerstrokes at the moment.
