2002 Supercrew Bedliner?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Dec-01 AT 10:48 PM (EST)]I went through what you are going through when I bought my truck two years ago. I posted a message for opinions. The general discussion broke down into two camps. One liked the spray in liners of which Rhino Linings seems to be the best. The other camp was the drop in liner people. I ended up with the drop in liner for two reasons. First, the people that spray in the liners are located 45 miles away from me, and second they are not cheap. So, I settled on a Penda Pro Liner. According to many people, these are the best of the drop ins. The are heavy duty so if you drop a 50 gal. drum in the bed, it probably won dent the metal underneath nor cut through the liner. With a spray liner, you can still dent the bed. Now, some claim that you can get water under the liner and the liner can also shift around. Both of these can cause wear or corrosion. I doubth this as I haven't had a problem yet, but the answer to this is to take out the liner every six months or so and see what is going on under there. They are not that difficult to get out. The guys that put mine in did it in about 20 minutes. So, you dicide what is best. Many arguments on both sides.
Good luck,
Russ

What up ya'll...
I read about a do-it-yourself bedliner... It seems pretty easy. I'm still debating on what type of liner I'm going to do as well. I'm leaning towards this do it yourself thing to save money and give me a little fun work to do.

I just finished up a herculiner do it yourself kit on my supercrew. Turned out great. Prepping took the longest amount of time, but is probably the most important, because without prepping, the urethane based liner may end up peeling up on you. Instead of that ratty scouring pad technique that they send with the kit (which would take forever), I put some 180 grit paper on a DA orbital air sander. Took about an hour and a half to prep/tape, but then again, I'm pretty thorough (maybe ****) because of my experience with painting cars and bodywork.
One hint: Don't wait too long during application of each coat. I found that the roller would stick and tear when I would roll over some of the slightly tacky material during application of my first coat.
Overall, quality seems to be matching or exceeding that of spray in liners. A buddy of mine has a spray in job that is constantly chipping on him. Besides, I'm with Ken in having the satisfaction of having done it myself.
Good luck,
Josh
