New Clutch In-Starter Won't Engage

Just finished putting everything back together after putting in a new 13'' flywheel and clutch kit. Went to start er up and the starter just spins. It is a new starter. After changing the 12'' DMF to a 13'' SMF does the starter need changed out to different one?

No it shouldn't change as long as you got the right flywheel with your kit. Might be your new starter that is defective

I know how things can just go bad. But the starter was just fine before I put the clutch in. I hope they did not give me the wrong flywheel.

Best thing to do would be to pull the starter off and bench test it with jumper cables to see if its working right. Also look into toward the flywheel to see if there are any marks on the flywheel from the starter drive.

Oh No!!!!! Just had my wife turn the key while I looked up at the starter. The gear on the starter did kick out and it hit the flywheel. (Not the ring gear) I am going to take the starter off and check everything out.

Can't figure this one out. Just took my starter out looked it over, stuck it back in and it fired right up! Sounds GREAT!!! No chearping, squeeling or knocking. Guys at Valair more than patient. Maybe a bad bearing in the starter.
