Efi 302 runs lousy

well I got my efi conversion.
87 HO out of a mustang gt 5 speed.
Problem:
as the engine warms up it starts to back fire and cut out when I accelerate. Ive replaced the fuel pressure regulator and Ive ran the codes. the only code I get is egr poodle poop which I just took off and cleaned up. it was almost clogged shut. so IDK somebody please help.
Oh I set the base timing at 10 Deg with the spout disconnected and hooked the spout back up and the timing went up to 25 deg advanced. is that Normal???? that seems way too advanced.

What computer and engine harness are you running?
What fuel pump are you using?

Did cleaning the EGR clear the code? Do you have the EGR connected properly? Does it run ok when cold?
Have you checked fuel pressure? Should be 35-45 psi.

I am working on getting a fuel pressure tester, kind of low on money right now. I havent checked the codes again yet. everything is hooked up as I think it should be. and when its cold it stumbles at idle and sometimes dies. but as it warms up it idles fine.

It is an 87 HO computer from a Mustang gt five speed. Speed density, I bought the wiring harness, computer, etc etc. all from the same car.

OK.. now we're getting the picture. What are you using for a fuel pump? You have the plugs wired 13726548 right?

Was this a complete engine, or were you adding EFI to your current 302? Like Conanski said, double check your ignition wiring and verify that your distributor is not 180 out (make sure you were on #1 compression when you set the dizzy).
Any off idle vacuum leaks, unused ports not plugged? You have a vacuum line to the MAP sensor?

Buy or borrow a fuel pressure tester. Will really help to isolate your problem.

What firing order are you using? Was this a complete engine swap or just adding EFI to your existing?

what are the cam specs??? speed density must have a cam with 114* or more lobe seperation. if its below that it wont run properly. Also what size injectors are you using?

I have a mass air overlay harness and mass air meter if you wanna go that route let me know. I can use it on my bronco due to the E4od.

I'll ask again.. what fuel pump are you using? If this was a carb'd vehicle with an electric pump you need a different pump, because while it may build enough pressure at idle it won't supply the volume necessary to maintain pressure under load. You shoud be getting 32psi at idle and it should jump to 40-45psi when the throttle is opened.
