I replaced a 2005 Five-Hundred Limited with a 2007 Fusion SE 4-cylinder just about a year ago. My judgement: totally superior to the 500! A little less giddy-up, but much smoother, quieter, and better riding. Handling, refinement and road feel? No comparison, the Fusion puts the Five-Hundred to shame. The 500 was roomier, with an immense trunk, but as a car, I'm ecstatic with the Fusion. The Five-Hundred was a little too "boaty" to be considered a sports sedan, but lacked the real luxury and refinement to be a luxury car; kind of a "vehicle in search of a personality." I can't even imagine what a Fusion SEL V6 would be like. But if I'm happy with a basic SE 4-banger (a few power goodies, but no 'roof, leather, heated seats, etc...). I like it better every time I drive it. This is Ford's sure-fire winner when it comes to cars. On a scale of 1-10, definitely a 10.

My wife is leasing an '06 Fusion SEL V-6 auto...loaded. It's a really good car, and the powertrain is awesome. Great handling, too. Ford did well on this vehicle!
My only complaint is I have a hard time getting comfortable either driving or sitting in the front pass seat, due to the moonroof taking up headroom. I'm 6'2" and have to slink down to keep from bumping my head!

My wife has an '07 Fusion SE 3.0 V6 with the 6 spd auto and AWD that we've had thru most of 2 winters here in the north country...
I love to drive it when she lets me. I forget it's a 4 door cause it drives like a sports car. Handling, get up and go, traction, cornering and I could go on and on. The auto is so smooth that I have to watch the tach to see it shift. Ford got it right with this car!
At 5'10" the moonroof isn't a problem that I've noticed. She loves that feature too.

My fusion is one of the best cars I've ever owned. It's very comfotable, handles like it's on a rail. The 5 speed automatic is the best shifting auto I've ever owned and the duratec 2.3 has plenty of power, the V-6 should be a rocket. My wife likes it so well that she wants another one with the V6 AWD instead of an suv when her lease is up. It's an awesome car and I'm very impressed. The quality is as good or better than anything in it's price range including the japanese junk. Ford has a real hit with this car and it looks good, it's the total package. I wish they would make an svt version to set beside my mustang.

Hey Bruker...to answer your questions, she's got 30,600 miles now (the car that is, not the wife!) and had her about 24 months. Since my wife mostly drives it, she never figures out MPG...just keeps filling it when it' almost out of fumes in the tank. I toggled through the displays and it said it's getting 30 mpg average, which isn't bad considering it's mostly suburban/rural and the lady drives like a bat out of hell.
The car is holding up very well. I take care of the routine maintenance (oil & filter changes, air filters, tire rotation, etc.) No complaints here!
