Anyone running this? I have been taking computer classes all winter and the feedback isnt so great on this. My brother and his business partner are running it on their laptops and they say its okay.

I run it on my laptop, and its ok. Just ok, nothing special. I find it uses alot of memory compared to what xp pro used.

It has its problems, but thats what we get for running microsoft OS's!

Im curious, what kind of computer courses are you taking? In 2001/2002 I took some computer networking and internet support.

So far, the first was an intro course - a bit too basic but okay.
Next was internet /e mail.
Windows XP, Word, Excel, Digital Photography, Powerpoint coming up. Most are 4 evenings. My computer skills suck and I really made it a plan to get this sorted out this winter.

Are you taking that through some farmer improvement type course deal?

My mom and dad took some courses for some kind of improvement, sort of sound the same as what youa re taking. My dad who is 53 or so actually even kind of got into it.

I went out and bought them a brand new computer to kind of encourage them to "get with the times" and so far my mom has gotten into it alot, and my dad plays alot of solitaire to get him used to using the mouse

My dads buddy actually got a course that he had to go to..... I forget where it was, somewhere in BC to take, and they paid for everything. It was a heavy equipment operators course.

Its like any MS OS, as soon as the next one comes out, they will have the problems fixed with this one!

Pretty much every OS from microsoft has been this way.

I have a newer (bought 6 months ago) high end desktop with vista and I have had no problems. I love it! You definatly need a good computer to run it though.

(4 yrs old) My desktop is a Celeron 2.8 ghz with 512 ram and a 120gb SATA HD running windows XP Corp Pro. LIGHTNING FAST...

(less than 4 months old)My Laptop is a Intel Core 2 Duo, 1gb of ram, 160gb SATA HD, running Vista home (90% of the crap shut off) BLINDINGLY SLOW.

My desktop load 80% faster, with nothing shut down to aid load time. If it wasn't a royal pain in the ****, I would have reverted my laptop long ago. Even with the correct drivers, its a b**ch to try and get XP loaded onto my laptop correctly...

So I make do.. My desktop is reserved for my server. My laptop is everything else. It sucks at games (no more Need for Speed), 1/2 my software has been replaced because it isn't compatible with Vista.

I have 3 external HD's totalling 1.5tb (tb is terrabyte or 1000 gigabytes), and I have to go thru all 3 to find out what works & doesn't work with Vista.

I have a Core 2 Duo 6600, 2 GB RAM, 512MB Video, 500GB internal, 750GB external (strictly for my media). Running Vista home premium with no options shut off... very fast and very stable. As I said Ive had this computer for alittle over 6 months and have never had it lock up once, or even have a program lock up or stop working. Don't play games on it but run various applications. I also keep it very clean which probably helps!

PS: inbox cleared
