Just Moved In

Hey all, not the first time I've posted here, but thought I ought to now.

The wife and kid and Fords and I moved up here to South Dakota! Some days it feels like the arctic circle compared to Kansas City (where we were before), but we're adjusting.

Anyway, thought I'd say hi, and if any of you are ever toward the east end of SD swing by, we're in Brookings, just north of Sioux Falls!

Jim, welcome to your new home, icicles and all. My memories of Wichita two different summers was temps around 106F all week. You probably won't find that in Brookings. I take it your 50 made the move Ok!? I run my 48 daily up here in the ice and snow so I know they can handle it - better than we can.

Wish you all of God's best in your labors. I have a friend at Abiding Savior FLC in Souix Falls. Paul served as our Youth pastor for several years. If you need another contact, let me know.

Thanks All, for your warm welcome and well-wishes. We're adapting well, and my wife has found a good job. Praise God!

mt- No joke about these old Fords! The 50 got babied on the way up. I'm the only one in our moving party who could handle her confidently (my father-in-law probably could have, but not confidently). So, the old boy got to ride behind me on a trailer as I drove the moving truck.

BUT, once we got up here an arctic front came through, our 2000 ranger wouldn't start, the 66 merc wouldn't start, and I ended up driving my 58 year old truck to get parts and supplies to get the other vehicles adjusted to the cold! I called my dad and told him I couldn't believe a 58 year old truck was more faithful...more reliable than an 8 year old one! It's a dang good truck, that's all I've got to say!

So far as why we're here, we appreciate all your prayers, and extend the invitation to join our prayer team and receive the e-newsletters we send out to keep everyone up to date on what God is doing in Brookings. You can contact us through our website to have your e-mail added.

Thanks, we might have to get together some time this summer, when it's warm that one day!

Welcome to South Dakota! Glad you had a safe move. Great looking '50, I hope to own one of the early 50's pickups some day. Great to see how you've updated your truck, and very relieved it's still powered by Ford.

Yep, been a cold winter this year, makes me feel like I never left Montana!

Am I to guess your from down around Vermillion, or Elk Point?

And yeah, my family's a Ford family. We've owned little else, and believe it's sacriligious to put anything other than Ford Power in a car (whatever the make). Sorry Darksiders!

I'm getting ready to move myself, I'm staying in Billings, but its going to be an adventure. The last time I moved, I packed everything I had in the back of my '79 F150 and drove 2500 miles to Maine. it wasn't as much stuff then.

Yep, we're just a couple miles into South Dakota... We are trying to find a permanent place around Elk Point. I work in the Sioux City area and the wife works in Sioux Falls, a home in-between would be good, especially if it has a barn to hold some old Fords!

Where you moving to Matt? Debbie and I are getting ready to split from this house too. My roommate flat out refused to leave even though he's $993.84 behind in rent to the landlord. Niether the landlord or I can dynamite his butt outta here!

A college buddy out in Lockwood has an extra room, so I'll go from $600 a month from this place (which is a very nice, well kept building) to $200 plus my own private shooting range and I can park as many vehicles as I want to. I'm giving up a garage and a nice concrete work surface (even though I'm not supposed to do major work on vehicles here) but saving $400 a month is going to be really nice.
