Has anyone converted over to a hydraulic clutch out of like a mid 80s ford in there early bronco. I am going to do this eventually and if anyone could warn me of the glitches they ran into so i can avoid them that would be great thanks.
The 88 turbo t-bird used a hydraulic clutch setup for the t-5 version. Also in the LMC truck catalog there is a hyd clutch components shown, dont recall what the app is, but it is ford. I doubt it is as good as Wilwood, but was good enough for fords cars and trucks.
i dont have hydraulics in my EB, but i had 'em in my 94 ranger
theres a pre-formed plastic tube hose thing that goes from the clutch master to a port in the bellhousing to actuate the throwout bearing, ran good for alot of years then one day the hose burst open, and i lost the clutch on the freeway, not too big a deal, cuz i can shift without the clutch anyway if i have to. i replaced it and it lasted a couple weeks and blew out the same exact way, this went on three more times in the next few months. guess i had a defective run. PITA...
my opinion is with a cable or linkage, it can bend, stretch whatever, and get real sloppy, but you still got a clutch, hydraulic is go-no go
unless you don't mind starting off a stop lights like a sprint car in gear with your starter. lol don't know what kind of material the aftermarket kits use.
