Entertainment Center Question

Who here has an aftermarket DVD system installed in their X? I am planning on getting one installed in the next few days and would like to see some pictures of yours so I have an idea.

Also, I am trying to stay within $1000.00 including taxes and installation, is that reasonable?

Thank you.

In my opinion, you can do a much nicer system with 2 monitors for much less money. It's also what I call a disposable system, if something goes bad it's real cheap to replace. And you don't have to butcher your headliner. See what I did in this subject from last year.....

I agree with Vasheriff. I thought about the whole permanent sytem , but then though with trips and family gatherings it would be nice to have portable ones that don't cost as much and if they crap out they crap out just like the permanent ones in seat back and headliners, but in those spots now you need to have installation done again. Good luck with whatever avenue you take.

ps - Recently I came across some top notch headphones on tigerdirect.com

They were pretty much free after the rebates. Excellent quality stuff.

So, I tossed the headphones that came with the Emerson system in the trash.

So now, the speakers in the monitors can be used..... or the headphones.

I am tickled to death with the way my system turned out in my Excursion. It really doesn't block the view from the 2nd and 3rd row seating even though it looks like it would. Plus the occupants don't have to strain their neck by continuously looking up to see a single monitor on the headliner. And as I said, it's cheap to replace if anything goes bad, compared to the repair bill on an already expensive overhead mounted system.

Thank You!

From the outside at night, it looks like they are mounted in the headrests.

All of my friends think it's better than the OEM overhead system.

Holding up quite well. Will probably outlast an expensive headliner mount model.

That looks nice VA, how are the two screens attached to the black metal bar? And where did you get that bar from?

Thanks.

The bar is from eBay.... see this link....

Excuse the dust from this winter..... the Emerson monitors have metal rods top and bottom, left and right, that you can simply slip a plastic tie through. This is why I say pay close attention to attachment points on the back of whatever system you are looking to purchase.

It's actually a steering wheel cover. What you see is the bottom of it, because I had the steering wheel turned to the right while
approaching my garage door. Almost the entire top of the cover is woodgrain. With the 2 woodgrain slashes in the bottom portion.

Very nice. I bet that cost a little more than $1k...lol

What size screen is the center one? Is it just the right size for the people in the center row and how does it look from the third row?

Thank you, it looks really nice.
