i don't think that i would want an f500 on the back with that truck. thats alot of weight on a very old truck. i am sure that it will be overloaded. if you must then make sure the brakes are in very good shape (including brake lines) and that the trailer brakes are in very good shape. i would really consider finding a newer truck.

good thought
ggood thought but dont have 30.000 dollars to buy another truck.
i live in mohave county.all the used trucks are in the same shape as mine
im looking for a c600 that runs no luck.
the reason i use my 71 f250 cs is ive been told that they are the same as a 71 f350.and will tow anything.
my trailer is a three axle aluminum that is rated for 15000 lbs.electric brakes.

i would be scared to with 30year old brakes. you don't have to spend 30k on a new truck. you can find good mid 90's with a powerstroke or 460. even with those trucks that would be pushing it. i think towing that much weight with that truck will be very dangerous, and illegal. you will be way over. a 1971 f350 has a gcvw of 10,000lbs. the truck wieght of 5,000lbs plus 15,000lbs trailer is way over. you need to think about the safety of other people that are on the road. how would you feel if you killed somebody?

i don't know where that is but if you get on ebay you can find something much cheaper. you can fly just about anywhere in the states for $150 or less and drive it back. but a semi would def. do what you want to do better than any pickup truck could. still look on ebay to try to find a good cheap one.
