new hot air choke?
today i was replacing my old worn out carb with a new holley and everything was going good, got all the lines and bolts off but it still wouldnt come off, the found there was a hot air choke tube that goes down into the manifold that was still conected, when i tred to take that off, it was soo badly corroded that it just broke in two. now after getting my new holley on, i cant hook up the hot air choke tube because it would be pointless, does ford still make these or am i going to have to find one in decent shape at a junk yard? if so can it come off of any V8 or just a 429/460?? the guys at kragen couldnt even find it anywhere in any of their books......if i cant find it, should i just go with an electric choke conversion kit?

new hot air choke?
ok heres what i did, i went to napa and got a choke stoke kit, and i fabricated a new plate for the new part to screw into...hooked up the line to the choke, plugged the outlet on my carb, no there is one slight problem, my car wont run, it turns over fine, ran great before i replaced my carb, but now wont run at all. i got it started for a little bit earlier today but it ran really badly, sputtering, spitting, missing and ultimately dying. is there something i can do? i hate that i just put a new carb on it and the damn thing wont even run....any ideas? i am going to try unplugging the hole and trying to crank it tomorrow morning, but if i dont find what the problem is soon i am going to have to take it to someone to see if they can fix it, this is my daily driver, and my parents cars arent exactly always available, thanx.

new hot air choke?
If not mistaken the hot air assy. pulls the choke butterfly OFF choke (opens hte butterfly when engine warms) Maybe choke butterfly is sticking all the way closed. I'd recommend going with a manual choke assy. from the same napa, they should carry them.. Much simpler, easy to install, clean, and failsafe.
First of all, tho, to find out if that's the problem, wire your choke open when you start it.
