What I might be seeing is just a cut-out in the frame- if you can see the photos I posted, look at the one that is zoomed in on the pass. side front frame rail. The very front of the frame rail is boxed in, what I'm looking is right behind that boxed section of frame and I'm looking at it through the frame rail (which will be hard to do if your bumper is attached unless you have X-ray vision or something )

Looked at my F250 this evening and looks the same. Just cut-out in the frame. You know I've been following this and if the owner is truefull what really occured it might be a really good deal .. that being said I am the least person on this thread to give advice on frame damage. Might be worth the drive to destination as it is what you want and maybe you can inspect more and counter offer.

Bring CASH .. it talks big time.

OK, looked again in better light. That piece should be a half oval .. top piece from triangle area should run along top of frame which is missing. Pretty thin stuff so don't know how much support it provided.

Good deal, I was hoping that the shackle hadn't been ripped off the frame or something.
I got another little tid bit of info from the owner tonight- he said when he had the truck looked at, they estimated the value at $15500 and the damage at $8500! He's "trying to find a copy of the estimate" to fax to me so I can see what the shop that actually looked at it said needed replaced. I thought $4200 seemed high for the damage it has, I wonder what that shop found to run it up to $8500!

idea... talk him down to a decent price. buy that thing and swap the engine tranny and all other diesel specific parts to your frame and body. pretty big project with the tanks and fuel system, but i dont think any bigger than getting the wrecked truck back in shape. then you can still part it out and get some money back.

Bad idea! I'm after the crew cab more than anything. We have 2 daughters now, the supercab is just a little too cozy. Momma has to ride in back now, and that doesn't make Momma happy. I'm sure you know the saying

that's right, you mentioned that earlier, sorry. i know the feeling. i am so spoiled by my four door, i could never go back. we are up to four in the family now and i hate driving my wife's volvo which is what i would be doing when we go out if i had a reg/super cab. when i wear my boots, my foot doesn't fit between the brake pedal and the center console to push the accelerator.
