Smile Hydraulic Clutch for 5.0 engines? T5 trans.?

Hello, this might be a dumb question, I want to use a hydraulic clutch on a 5.0 engine with a t5 transmission, Do you folks know if E or F series veh. ever came stock with 5.0 engine and hydraulic clutch for 4 or 5 speed trans, if so what years?

More info:
I have 2 totaled tbird turbocoupes (4 cylinder + hydraulic clutch + t5 trans) that I can pirate parts from. I noticed that their bellhousing has a cast area to hold the clutch slave cylinder, that for example mustang t5 bellhousings lack. And since the tbird bellhousing is 4 cylinder engine bolt pattern I cant use its bell housing.

but I was thinking that my old 1987 E150 Van had a 5.0 and an AOD just like my 1991 mustang does; I dont know which years E or F had their powertrains in this config; perhaps if I could find the right year E or F manual bellhousing I could use the tbird hydraulic pedal assmebly, master and slave cylinder this way I hope to convert my car from auto to manual trans with hydraulic clutch.

Thanks very much!!

I had a '92 F150 flareside 5.0 5 speed with hydraulic clutch. Don't know how hard it would be to modify the line, etc to work on a T5. Seems to me the hyd line goes inside the T5 and the M5?? on the truck was external. Still, though, if you want to do it you can!

winfordr thanks much 1992 eh? well the hydraulic slave cylinder on the turbo coupes is mounted externally kind of looking like this
http://www.supermotors.net/vehicles/...ry/media/72265
but on the tbirds its all cast, the image in the above link has a steel piece bolted up, winfordr do you know if yours was cast on the bell housing? Thanks again for your reply. I was thinking of re-using the tbird master & slave cylinder and its pedal assembly, but thats because those parts are free. If I could find a bell housing allowing the use of hydraulic clutch slave cylinder I will get it and go from there

Hamutoff: Well I just had a revival of one of my dead brain cells. The T5 transmission has a clutch cable, not hydraulic (mustang anyway).
The transmission on my 92 F150 was a Mazda M50 I believe. Not like the T5. I don't know what bell housing you would need to match a T5. On the explorer manuals, the slave cylinder is built into the throw out bearing. If you could use something like that, you may be in luck. What about an explorer(ranger) 5 speed trans for your application?
Sorry, it's been several years since I wrestled a manual trans, and I have forgotten much of that pain.

hydraulic clutch t5 and 5.0

haaa ha yes pain, well I know a bit about autos but am starting to learn about manuals and their associated pain. Yes on mustangs they all had cable, no exceptions. On the tbird they had the same T5 trans as mustangs but on the opposite side of the bellhousing they had a cast "finger" to hold the slave cylinder. Unfortuantely the bellhousing has the bolt pattern for the 4 cylinder engine. I was hoping to find SOME vehicle that used hydraulic clutch and 5.0/302 engine at SOME time that a T5 could also bolt to or be adapted to.

Ive been looking around and the first year the F series trucks had a 5 speed (what type I dont know yet) is the 2nd year [1988] into the 8th generation [1987-1991]. after 1991 It appears that the 5.0 was dropped? (but 351w still around maybe) Im getting somewhere, but Im not going to stop until I am 100% sure that there is NO way to accomplish what I want, or I DO accomplish it

Ive done it. There is an adaptor plate NOT the CPC California Pony Cars adaptor... its the older Tremec plate... in fact I got both not only did the CPC plate have many casting voids in it... casting voids RIGHT ACROSS the machined bolt holes (dangerous and should have failed QA) the pattern was WAY off to adapt the truck/van bellhousing to the borg-warner (Now Tremec) T5.... the older-style adaptor plate I mentioned required modifications best done by a machinest but the depth as installed looks good I will only be able to tell 100% when I get the powertrain assembled but looking good right now.

hopefully Ill be finishing this up by next year. This way I will get my hyd clutch at a 11" which is larger than stock 10.5 or eariler 10" so can have a mild and easy clutch action that grips better all things being equal... what can I say, if its my car I HAVE TO IMPROVE IT/MODIFY IT to make it MINE and make it BETTER, but I have this weird thing where I like to use factory ford parts wherever I possibly can. OEM R&D makes a tough part!! THATMETALBOX.COM - A Little Web Page MAtt
