truck running really rough.. not mine

a friend of mine has a '95 psd and he called me today and this is what he told me...

he got diesel today and about 15 minutes afterward the truck started running really rough. he thought he just got bad diesel so he stopped and put some in the other tank at a different store. ran great for a bit and then started doing the same thing. the truck has a new fuel filter and the fpr screen is clean.

i couldn't think of anything right off the top of my head to tell him so i figured maybe you guys could help him out a bit! thanks guys for the help!

Travis, look at the valve cover connections. I bet it has burnt pins.

Could have allready trashed the filter even if it was brand new.
Does seem likely if its not just a coincidence.

I should be up till about 9:30 or so. Call me if you need anything. Also, take the tire psi gage and check fuel psi. Pull the fuel lid and look at the filter. Like john said, anything is possible with the filter. You can pull the ICP plug and start it and see if anything changes. Call me when you head over there.

hey guess what... he was about 6 qts low on oil. so he added oil and its good now.

the oil filter was loose and leaking oil so he tightened it back up and he's good to go now.

I guess that is why it is called a high pressure common oil rail system instead of a high pressure common air rail system.
