Summit cam, Good, bad,ughy??
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Dec-01 AT 00:45 AM (EST)]I am looking for anybody who has used the summit cam SUM-K3501. I have this cam and am thinking about putting it into my truck. What kind of performance upgrade will this be for it. It currently resides in a F250, has D0VE heads, 8.5-9:1 C/R, stock exaust, stock 4V manifold, 750 vac sec. 3:54 gears, C6 trans. The motor will eventually be put into my F250 4x4 with a 4sp, and 4.10 gears.
Thanks
Tony

Summit cam, Good, bad,ughy??
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Dec-01 AT 06:55 AM (EST)]I don't know much about cams but here are the specs.
Duration at.50 intake 218, Exaust 228
Lift .503, .503
Lobe seperation 114
Hydrolic
I have the same cam in my 460. Enough power for me. I don't know the exact hp and torque it will give you. I would also recommend getting a good set of headers and maybe an aluminum intake manifold to get the most out of the cam. Anyone agree??

I have that same cam in my truck. Installed with other Mods
(see signature). Very happy with the street performance of it.
Even while using low compression heads(73'), with no
porting or shaving.

Sounds like a good all around cam by the specs. I just always have been a fan of Comp Cams. I have a very similar cam by Comp in my 460 right now. I have heard some bad stories about cams from lesser known companies, in particular Edelbrock. However, I haven't heard anything bad about the Summit stuff.

Yea,
I like the Comp. Cams also. But I figured I wouldn't
be using the truck as a racer, so street runs wouldn't hurt
it too bad. And so far that theory has turned out to be right.
