Edelbrock EFI

Anyone here use the Edelbrock multi point EFI? I'd like to inject the 351 in my '85 Bronco, but am wondering just how well the Edelbrock setup will work. 1000 cfm is a bit overkill for a mild small block. I'm not interested in Holley's Pro-jection. Hate Holley. I have an Edelbrock 650 off road carb on it now.

No comment on the Edelbrock system, but if your motor has stock heads, you could swap in an SD friendly cam(if you don't have the HO motor already, if you do just leave it) and transplant the EFI system off a later 5.8 truck.

I have it and it made a heck of a difference over the stock intake. I kept the stock one for about a year after I changed heads/cam, couldn't believe the diffence in low and upper end power.

Sorry. Forgot to mention that. Mine is the HO 351. Factory FI would be an idea if it weren't for the complexities of the wiring. At this point, I prefer the stand alone aftermarket system. How is driveability and fuel milage with the Edelbrock system? Throttle response is good with that big a cfm rating?

Mine went up a good bit after I did everything. I did the 60329 heads, intake, Comp 35-255-5 cam and roller rockers. Gas went from 13 hwy to about 16. I just went from VA Beach to Alaska pulling my boat and did pretty good on gas. Total load when I left was a little over 11K and I got 11-12 running 80-85mph. When I backed off to 60-65 it jumped to 14. I was on a tight sched, made the trip in 3 days.

I had the same concern when I got a mass-flo system for mine. Similar to the Edelbrock, multipoint, 1000 cfm throttle body and victor jr style intake. Everyone I talked to that had the same system said it had great throttle response and street manners. I'm waiting for the weather to get warmer before I put it on my 302.

A mass air system? Made by who? I'd be interested. Granted, even a speed density system is better than a carb, but if there's a comparable mass air set up, I'd like to take a look.

www.rjminjectiontech.com has some great efi harnesses to allow going to mass air. not to mention a wiring harness for us that run the e4od tranny.

Only $1000+ dollars! Thanks for the link, thats the best price I've seen for a e40d truck kit yet, but still pretty high.

I think I'll continue to struggle to make oem junkyard parts work. Funny that they dont mention the neccesary remapping of the computer neccesary for a bigger MAF meter calibrated for larger injectors.

thats what a tune would be for. my plan is to get a 302/e4od mass air complete harness, run the 302 maf computer and get it tuned to run my 5.8. this way i wont need any special harness or dual computer setup to run motor/tranny.
