You seem to have a great deal of experience and knowledge on vehicles, customer service and the evolving of the vehicles we have today. But yet you complain of the way things are. How have you tried to make better the situations we are facing today, from what you say you were there as they changed. How did you help?

At various times I have owned the following:

'87 F150 5.0 AOD
'92 F150 4.9 5 speed
'95 F150 4.9 5 speed
'99 F150 4.6 super cab

Currently own

'88 F150 5.8 C6 4x4
'89 F150 5.0 AOD
'06 F150 Super Crew 4.6

I love my '88 it's my daily driver.....But any chance I get I drive my wife's '06. The ONLY time I would choose the 4x4 is if I need the 4x4. As soon as I get my daughter through college, i will own a new truck.

Anybody who has driven these trucks knows that they are by far better than the previous trucks.

So I wonder...you say you want a simple basic work truck, small v8, regular cab and long bed, plain jane, simple tough truck. What part of an XL isn't that?

This might be all well in good..But the exterior metals are not as thick compared to the trucks of the "70"s

Again I don't want to start saying you are older and grumpy and I am younger and naive. That is a poor way to discuss this wouldn't you agree?

You are right this country is in a very very bad position today and in general most people do nothing about it.

To say you are tired of typing to brick walls is a foolish statement and offends me. I have intelligently debated every point you made. If you are not goin to either counter my points or respectfully end the arguement (as I did with the paint) then you are either generally a disrespectful person or simply not intelligent enough for the conversation. Either way I am glad you are done typing to "brick walls" and will not miss your biased opinions and negativity.

BTW up until october, I was a field test engineer for a large truck company. I would spend time on every trip I made talking with all people at the dealerships that had any concerns or comments about our new products. You strike me as the guy who has plenty to complain about but can't do it in a respectful and constructive way, in other words general "b!tching". I would generally blow those comments off and not report them to anyone as there really was no facts, just hearsay and opinions.

If you feel like discussing things in an intelligent manner than I welcome your comments again..

I've been on this earth a little over 60 years with 45 of them working on or working with automobiles (not just Ford).

THE GOOD OLD DAYS ARE RIGHT NOW!

You said the AOD was a Pos. Even if it was, it was still far better than the OD transmissions of both GM and MOPAR during the same time period. Everything is relative and it took them time to work out the bugs. When I talked with people who had GM products with an OD transmission and it had over 50,000 miles on it, I didn't ask if they had ever had any transmission problems, I asked them when they had their transmission repaired.

I have had GM trucks with the OD transmission and what a hunk of junk that was..6 weeks sitting out back at the dealer waiting for transmissions on 2 of those trucks...We called a lemon law on both trucks.

These were at 5000 miles on them and second time with in those ....

once again I'm not saying those trucks weren't good but you can't compare a 1988 F-150 to a 2007....the 2007 is a better truck in every category....i had a extended cab and i liked the truck a lot but that truck couldn't do a lot of things my 07 can do and my 07 looks a whole lot better doing it...

15 years from now everyone will be saying man you can't get trucks like my old 2007 F-150. They just don't make them like they used to....same old tune just a different year...
