Thumbs down e4od trouble

hey guys... so ive been trouble shooting my buddies tranny... and ive been driving it a lot lately, and as i have never driven any other powerstroke truck from these years (97 f250 cc, auto) its hard to tell what is typical diesel and what is the transmission, when at a stop if you give it gas it takes a lot to get it rolling, it has 4.10's with 33's i would think it would get up and go... it usually hangs in gears (not during shift, but just like it doesnt want to shift, like not enough power) for a long time, it seems like it accually wont shift gears unless its up around 3,000 rpms.. when it does shift its a firm shift, so i dont think its the tranny itself. and when you get to around 50-60 mph the torque converter seems to lock and unlock, the tach jump up and down a couple hundred rpm even with a steady foot. and when you get to overdrive even if you barly touch the pedal you can feel the torque converter unlock, then lock back up in 2 seconds... i also got the od light to start flashing when driving under easy conditions accelerating through either first or second gear. i dont think its from shifting because the shifts feel firm, even when the od light isnt flashing.. my first guess is the torque converter, i was just wondering if anyone else maybe had this similar problem and had an idea.. thanks guys

that sounds EXACTLY like what my truck did. od you have access to a diagnostic tool to read tranny temps? Heck, if you know someone with an edge evo tuner, it will read tranny fluid temp. My guess is that if you drive it for a while, you will see high temps also. TC slipping. Could be the speed sending unit also. I have heard that it plays tricks on truck. If you had a way to read tranny temp, that would eliminate it.

Great. My truck started doing this more often now. I'll have to go get the codes read to see what's happening.
