Autolamp Malfunction?

On my truck I have the light **** in the autolamp position all the time. Now the headlights come on during the day. This is a bright and sunny day and there is not a hint of darkness. Its not that big a deal to have them on all the time just curious as to what the problem is. Does anyone have any idea?

Is the sensor covered? Mine is the little black bump on the dash that flashs red. Seems some maybe in the rear view mirror? Check to see if it is uplugged? Only time mine stayed on all the time was when I got a dash mat that covered the sensor.

I agree with canstacker. If you threw a ball cap up on the dash or something like that and it covers the sensor, they'll come on during daytime.
