what rearend gear do I have

Hello,
How do I find out what my rearend gear ratio is? Is there someway thru my vin # that I can tell? I bought my EX used and all I know is that it is a V-10.

on the certification lable on the drivers door pillar there should be a place with the axle code ...
if it is a letter or a letter and a number it is limited slip... the numbers or number is the ratio...

On my label (00 Ex) there is nothing in the axle code area.

Same for mine (00 Ex). However, I requested an OASIS report on the forum, and it includes that information.

For those that do NOT have a code on their door sticker...

You can look on the rear diff cover from behind likely on the drivers side under one of the bolt heads you will see a small thin metal tag...maybe 1/2" by 3" with numbers stamped on it...that will give you the code as well...

Depending on the climate where you are...this may be much LESS preferred than simply looking on the door sticker...but the info should be there as well...

FWIW...my code on my door sticker 'shows' that I have a 3.73 non-limited slip BUT seeing as how I changed gears last spring...I REALLY have 4.30 non-limited slip...so I'll have to change my 31 to a 33 or 43 even though an Excursion 'shouldn't' have that code...MINE DOES
