Gas Gauge error??

Today, my overhead went to Zero miles to empty (as it always does) but the gas gauge shows more than empty. Needle is still above the empty line. I normally go 30-40 past empty, but it looks as though I have nearly 30 miles until it should show zero to empty and 30 more till I'd normally fil up. Normally, when overhead goes to zero, the gauge shows even with empty line and it goes below it before I get gas. Maybe tomorrow I will get gas but this is a first for zero to come when gauge shows some gas still in there. Something going bad?

Everything should be the same as last 3-4 tanks. Last tank was right on as normal.

10 mpg on 40 gallons means 400 miles to the tank

9.25 mpg on 40 gallons means 370 miles to the tank...

A small hit in mpg can easily explain the 30 mile difference in your lie-o-meter as it uses the 'average' mpg and if you reset it with the last fill up...you might just be getting a lower average? or perhaps you have NOT reset the average lately and you have more of a city average and you've actually done more highway driving on this tank?

Hard to say really...

Well, I got gas yesterday already. Overhead went to 0 at 432. It normally goes to 0 at 450 or so. Last tank I got 491 miles and put in 42.2 glas going almost 40 miles past 0. This time I got 477 miles going 32 miles past 0 and only put in 41.3. Mpg was very close, just a little hiccup I guess.

I guess I have small balls...I have yet to get 43 gallons into an empty tank and I normally put in over a gallon after pump stops. Last time pump quit at 40.1 and I squeezed over $3 into her after that.

44gals on all excursions...most I have read someone put in during fill up was still under 44 gals. I have exceeded the volume in most other vehicles...over 16 gals into a 16 gal tank many times.

If I remember the photos of your truck...I think you've done a "few" mods though...right?

X hemi a few would be an understatment. Snurtle might have one the the best looking X's on this site if you ikle the lifted look. His mods are awesome. I wish my kids were older and I didnt have the car seats and boosters otherwise I would crank it up. Can't waiti till that day comes were no seats and they climb in themselves. As for lie o meter I never even look or reset mine because I do not like to go under a 1/4 of a tank unless absolutely necessary. This winter mix diesel sucks is all I can say about mileage.

I think i ghet high 300s in my truck. Gotta try it again on the next tank. I wanna say Im seeing around 370 a tank. Refilling when the lie o meter starts getting in the 20's. I tend to be a lil gas pedal happy though.
