63 ford uni

HI everybody my name is Doug,just bought me a sweet looking 63 uni with a old school 351 and c-6 auto
ive been jumping around reading and reading trying to find some info i need,site will not allow me to use the search engine for whatever reason so i hope sombody will chime in with my answers and thanks ahead of time!!

1) will a 96 302 out of a bronco go in my truck with relative ease i know it will fit but im wondering can i put a carb and intake on it or should i keep fuel injection and how much is involved in switching to carb or trying to put a 96 engine with fi in a 63 model?

2) will my headers off the 351 fit on the 302?

3)because the bronce is a 4x4 i think i have to use the c-6 in my old truck
and if i go with fuel injection will i have any probs there?

thank you and i look forward to any kind of help i can get including some ideas on why i cant use the search feature

Doug

Doug;
Welcome to the greatest Ford Trucks site; I believe if your 63 already has a 351 install it will allow you to use the same engine mounts for a 302 as well. The transmission should adapt as well. I would stick with what currently runs and then decide what modifcation later.
Others more knowledgeable will chime in soon.
Again welcome;

Mitch

Depends what 351 is installed. The Windsors and Cleavland/modified do not mix in the intakes and exhausts or transmission bell patterns..

Intakes do not interchange between 302s and 351 Windsors.

Putting a carb on the truck EFI roller motor makes a dog of it.

I run a 472 Cube EFI Big Block Ford in my 64 with a C6. I used the eariler 87 to 91 harness, Computer and sensors and EFI system that is more user friendly than the later 92 harnesses that needed to run the E40D trans.

Fanatic on slicks runs a EFI 92 roller motor and E4OD in his 63 uni and is still working the bugs out of the VSS.

The new 63 Uni under construction will have a 4.6 cammer along with a T56 and Edelbrock intake and ignition system. No EFI or Puter on this one.

I installed a 302 roller motor out of a 85 stang, my 63 unibody had six cylinder in it. I had very little trouble
installing. Installed a edelbrock carb and manifold, eng

The 85 EFI car motor is a world of difference from the truck motor. The 92 trucks use a truck specific intake with long runners to produce low end torque. Adding short runners and carb with the roller cam profiles in this engine kills it.

Rebuild the 351 windsor. Add a stroker kit and enjoy....

Yes the 302 will give better mileage but work harder to haul the weight of the truck.

A well set up and tuned 351 can give similar fuel economy. Plus give great performance.
