02 7.3 excursion mods list
Hello all, I thought I would see what everyone thinks as far as my thoughts on a few aftermarkets upgrades to the ex. I am wanting to do an exhaust, intake, and chip. So far I have narrowed it down to the banks stinger plus or the MBRP 4" turbo back stainless exhaust with 5" angle cut tip. As far as an intake I am leaning toward the AEM oil free intake. For the electronic performance I am thinking the SCT Strategy Pre-Programmed Flash Device. I am mostly using the vehicle for around town and lots of hauling. Any feedback or experience with any of these items positive or negative would be greatly appreciated.

do a search on the 6637 filter it filters well and is only like 30 bucks online. I dont know many people running the banks exaust but MBRP and silverline are good. You want to get a chip that not one of those "off the shelf" tuners, Dp tuner is the way to go www.Dp-tuner.com

Don't know much about AEM intake, but many on here do the 6637 mod for a intake, it's inexpensive $40. I prefer the AFE Stage II with pg7 filter.
I strongly recommend the DP tuner for your power enhancements, I would do any of the off the shelf tuners.

I have the AFE proguard 7 on my truck and am very happy. I heard of some intakes not being big enough to handle the air volume and suck in the air filter so make sure you get a high quality intake. The AFE proguard is a really nice set up but kind of spendy. They say it a 50 hp increase with a programer, i don't know that its true or not I got it because it filter 99% of fine dust particle. Most other filters are 99% coarse dust particles. So do your research, another good brand is Volant.

Go with MBRP or Silverline. Banks is not worth the money.
Intake - I don't care what you do, but I am going with the AFE Stage II w ProGuard 7
Chip - SCT makes some darn good stuff for Chevys. Not too sure about their Ford stuff. Look at my sig and you will know what I chose AND I LOVE IT!!!

I like Pinnacle, too Pete told me to get it!
BTW Pete - You better get that sowing machine warmed up for my PG7 filter cover It will be mine when I can find the cheapest one out there. Read my post, I have found them from $355 up to $500+ If there is that much range they must be out there even cheaper.

Sewing machine has been running a lot here lately... almost hard to keep up with. BTW... the PG7 template is made, and tonight will be the official sewing pattern and perhaps a test cover to check for "fit". Was going to do those things last night, but family obligations kept the desire at bay.
On the exhaust, I think that it was some of your research, Scott, that actually got me pointed in that direction while you were still trying to choose which way to go.
