97 F150 Extended cab 4x4 - My "door ajar" alarm and overhead dome light stay on even after closing doors. Doors are closing tight with no problem. Alarm will often go off after truck has been running for several minutes. This problem just started a few weeks ago and happens almost every time I drive.
Is there a sensor that could be bad and if so, where might it be. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Tired of driving down the road at night with the dome light on!!!!!

 

This has been covered in an earlier post. The remedy is to spray a lube, white lithium grease is best, but WD-40 will do, into the door latch. Unlike trucks of old with the plunger in the door jamb, apparently the new ones have the switch or sensor of whatever is is right in the latch in the door. A squirt every now and then should solve the prob, and can work on stubborn tailgates as well. Happy squirting!
