OK, ignorant on the 3.0L V6

So........ does it have a timing belt or chain ?
This is a FI 3.0L w/ 286,000 miles in a '93 ranger extended cab.
Running fine for 1 minute then died a quick quiet death. if the belt/chain is busted will it show as no rotation on the distributer ?

Like I said, this is new territory for me.

Thanks

I'll check it out after work.

If the distributor IS turning does that indicate a coil or distributor pickup problem ?

There is NO spark. I checked the coil and find 1900 ohms on the secondary. Haven't checked the primary.

The nature of the failure is troubling. At 4 degrees here yesterday morning It fired right up and ran for about a minute. Then, without even a cough, it stopped. Like I shut the key off or something.

Thanks again. Turned out to be the ignition module mounted behind the battery ( and a sh** load of cables) on the radiator mount.
