I haven't heard anything about this. If they are it would be only in heavy duty trucks. The large engines struggle to meet emissions standards. GM dropped the 8.1 which from what I can tell was the last big block on the market. I think the era of the big block has passed us by.

No, A 6.2 is in the works though. The block is capable of being bored and stroked to 7L which is close to 427-429ci.

Has ford ever offered anything larger than the 351 in the f150? I didn't think so and I think its unfortunate that they will offer the largest block in the history of the f150 when gas prices are at their all time highs.

No , Don't want to get in to it in this fourm but , the 429/460 NEVER came in F150 , the Largest displacement was the 400m. Look it up and do a little research. I ordered my 79 New been there done that.

I have a '79 F150 in my driveway right now with a factory 460 in it. I have known several guys over the years with one too.

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fc/0008.asp

Here's a VIN decader from LMC it shows an engine code of J for a 460. The first few digits of my vin are F15JK......

Not meaning to bust anyone out, just letting you know that they do exist.

To keep on topic, I don't know why Ford would put a big bore engine in a 1/2 ton truck. 150s are subjuct to CAFE standards. Plus the big bore would cause emission problems in some states.

My father had a 1979 Ford F-150 with a 460 in it from the factory. It ran like a top!

The 77 didn't have a 429, those were not made after 72 I don't think. 73-79 could be had with a 460.

this an article from a 1977 car craft. it says that the 1977 f100 could only have the 351 or 400m, no 460

godblessmud is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
You could NOT get a 429/460 in an F150 ever.
You could have a 351/400.

Above , Thats the real deal.
Many years this has been debated , Has never been proven with documentation or acutal vin plate.

The rumor is that the I6 300 is coming back... This will be due to the coming economic collapse, since it will be the only engine left running...
