I think the 5.4L could be better if Ford opened up the intake and offered dual exhaust as an option. I have a '06 and I just think the engine is a bit choked and held back.

I think the 5.4 has more potential that ford has yet to unlock. But if it were as simple as a freer flowing exhaust I'm sure they would have done that a while ago.
A V10 of 5.8 liters based off of the 4.6 would be an excellent F150 motor. All the tooling is there to make it. The public would probably shy away from it though.
I've been crying for a motor like that for years. slap dohc heads on it and put it in a mustang and it'll scream, put 2-3v heads on it and put it in a truck and it'll do great. I wish that BOSS 351 mule they made with the DOHC v10 like that made it to production... that was a sweet car, and they didn't even try very hard...

i'm pretty sure that emmissions are robbing everthing so much that a ballsy gas engine...from the factory anyway...is going to be something we're all only going to see in our dreams. i'm going w/ a b.a. diesel of course w/ the turbo, intercooler, injectors, the whole 9 yards...they'll give u more bang for ur dollar and at less of a hassle.
