Best set up for a 460?

I was just wanting some opions on how to set up a 460 in a 76 f150 supercab. I'm planning on boring it about 30 over. I looked at the edelbrock performer rpm series. Any ideas? I want it fast but driveable. Thanks in advance.

Best set up for a 460?

Hi. I'll give you a rundown of what I am doing to the 460 in my 78 Supercab 2wd. Starting out, the block will be bored .030 over. I'm using stock truck rods with the "football head" rod bolts, ARP rod bolts, Clevite bearings and rings. I'll probably use dish pistons to keep the compression down. Compression should be around 10:1. The heads I am using are D0VE-C castings that have been ported, polished, stainless steel 2.19"int/1.75"exh valves, surfaced, bronze guides, guide plates and roller rockers. The cam I am using is a Lunati solid grind, part #41605, .559"int/.572"exh lift, 237/247 duration @ .050 This should be good for close to 500hp at the flyfheel. Hope this can help a little with your build.

D0VE-1970 heads are older castings, (C8VE-1968 and C9VE-1969 are the same) that have a smaller chamber than the newer heads(D3VE-1973-up). I believe they are 74-76cc and the newer heads are 94-97cc.

I say if you want better drivability go for the regular performer series. The performer RPM is built for higher RPM driving. You lose a lot of low end torque. The performer RPM does better at 3000 and above, plus you'll have a really, really rough idle.
