Low heat at idle

I just replaced the water pump and thermostat on a 94 Ranger 2.3L due to leaks. I noticed after i started the truck and let it warm up there was minimal heat. When you run the RPM's up a little the heat gets reall hot. Any suggestions?

And the belt routing. Belt might be turning the pulley backwards.

Checked level and belt. Belt is routed like the diagram on the sticker. I just refilled it after driving and letting it sit over night. I'll go check again in about an hour. Thanks guys.

A few questions and answers for you. Where are you located is it cold outside? If you are not demanding any work from your engine over a period of time it will actually cool down to a point where heat would be less. This is very true with a diesel. I would not worry about this lack of heat at idle. Slow idle speed will cause lack of heat. You have heat once you are moving so that tells me everything is working correctly.

What did you mix your antifreeze at 50/50 70/30 or I don't know/what%??
Water actually conducts heat better than antifreeze if you are in a warm locale
you should run 60/40 70/30 basically more water than antifreeze but never ever
exceed 50/50 with more antifreeze coolant than water!! It doesn't resist freezing
anymore and will cause a overheat by lack of tranfer of heat to the cooling surfaces
since your heater is like a little radiator it won't tranfer heat to it to you!!
