I have a question regarding 460 blocks. I have an early 70's (71, I think)
460 block (casting numbers DIVE 6015AA) that the guy I bought it from told
me came from a Lincoln. I am planning on putting it into a '65 ford F100 2wd
shortbed. I really am trying to avoid using one of those "universal" mount
kits, and have found one that is specifically for 460's going into 65-79
fords. HOWEVER, it say's not for Lincoln blocks :-( . There are additional
engine mount boss's on each side, suggesting the engine mount can be moved.
Does anybody have any idea what the cast numbers list the block as, or if
you can point me to a reference on the 'net that would work too. Also if
anyone has done this type of swap (especially into a '65 or '66) what worked
type of mount/conversion kit worked for you? Thanks in advance.

The block is a 429/460 block from 68-78.As far as the swap goes,I am looking at my PAW catalog and TransDapt has a direct bolt-in kit.The kit includes motor mount perches, bushings and hardware. It sells for $113.95 and part #TDP-9720.As far as the "NOT for Lincoln blocks" is concerned, I think it refers to the pre 68 or 69 Lincoln 462 engines.Hope this helps:-) PAW's website is http://www.pawengineparts.com

Just thought I'd add my opinion, a 460 block is a 460 block. It doesn't matter if it came in a Lincoln or a Truck. The block has been the same since it was created. The block is also the same as the 429. The ONLY, and I stress ONLY, difference between the 429 and the 460 is the crank. If you have a 429 block and put a 460 crank in it, the motor would then become a 460. It's as simple as that. Also, if you are interested, I know of a way to kicking the cubes on a 460 up to about 514 cubic inches WITHOUT block modifacations. Let me know if you want more information.

The DIVE-AA casting number indicates that the block was installed in a 1971 Lincoln and is second design of that run.
I would suggest that you build your own mounts ,I have found that's it's not difficult and you usually get a better fit when doing so.
One other thing..."a 460 block is not a 460 block".In 1982 the blocks were cast with longer cylinders, and those blocks use a smaller diameter crankshaft that has an add on counterweight. The blocks cast before 1982 will be basiclly the same with exception of the BOSS block.
The 514 conversion is very popular, many companies offer 514 kits, which are a better way to do this unless you have a machine shop around the corner and are into building engines.
Good Luck to all and I hope to have given useful info......Dave.
