Remote Start?! Help! Which one would YOU want your wife to buy you????!!!

I hope I am putting this in the right section. If not I am very sorry.

I joined this site just today, because my husband uses this site when he has questions about his truck, or if he wants to spred some of his "wisdom." He recieves SO much great advice from his fellow Ford owners, so I thought I would give it a try!!

My husband drives a 2000 F-350 Diesel crew cab 4x4, all in all a really big truck that is best friends with my VW Bug.

My husbands truck did NOT come with remote keyless entry (tiny remotes), but has automatic everything so it wouldn't be hard to set up, I hope. He has talked about it for a while, but is always putting his money into something else, via family or his other projects.

I am here because I would like to buy him a Remote Starter ( I think that is what they are called), as a valentines day gift. If your wife (or girlfriend, or Mom, or whoever) was going to buy YOU one (and have it installed) , which one would you be so EXCITED and shocked to see, and which one would you have removed the day after Valentines day? Just keep in mind, we are not lottery winners, so the $100,000 trunk monkey door opener is a little much. But at the same time I don't want something cheap that is not going to last. So PLEASE help me out!!!!

Also, since its a keychain remote, does it include, or can you include remote keyless entry? It would be a bit much to carry around a keyring with two remotes on it. Not to mention a little Cousin Eddy looking when you put the thing in your pocket!

What else would you want for YOUR truck? Accessories wise?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your responses!!!! It is going to help me SO MUCH, and my husband, your fellow FTE member, will be so happy you pointed me in the RIGHT direction!!!!

I have to have two remotes, one for my keyless entry/remote start and one for my pace edwards bed locker. It's not that big of a deal. As far as starter systems go, anything from directed is a good choice. You can get integrated systems with keyless and remote start, infact that is more common than remote alone.

Valet/Hornet is a good less expensive line. I have sold a few of these and have had good results. I would like the two way remote of their's. Another choice of mine would be astrostart, I like the different shape of their remotes. http://www.directed.com/Products/Security/Default.aspx#

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

there's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life.

I have the Viper remote start, it combines door locks etc all on the same key chain remote.

2005.PSD.CC.LWB.DRW.FX4.King Ranch.Oxford white / Arizona beige.
I took it off roading, I parked it in a gravel parking lot.

You can spend a lot to support advertising budgets, Or you can buy something that just flat-out works as good as any of the high-priced heavily advertised stuff.
Micro Alarms has them.
Complete system is Less than $90
Comes with two remotes. Lock/ Unlock, Start, and an Auxillary channel for? Trunk, tailgate locks, Window roll-up ...anything.
Adding the Keyless entry is simple as connecting the wiring.
The BYPASS for your Ford isn't tough either and some are the same price as the Remote start.
BEWARE of SOME Bypass kits, They REQUIRE the Permanent USE of one of your expensive keys. Others just need the key long enough to program it and the keys are back to their normal use.

I've been really happy with my Clifford Matrix remote start/alarm. Anything made by DEI would be a good choice. The brand/model will really boil down to what options you are interested in. Ask around your area for a reputable car stereo shop, and they can help you make your choice. Not to ruffle any feathers, but I'd skip the the big electronics stores because the installation is just as important as the equipment!
