"Some" years have the axle code on the door sticker (not all though)
Depending on how accessible it is right now...there is a 'tag' on the rear axle (maybe 1/2" by 2") with numbers stamped on it.
Once you get the code from either of these sources...report it back here and we can tell.
I think a 31 is a 3.73 non-limited slip (that's what I orginally had).
I think a 33 is a 4.30 but not sure if LS or not...
My code is on my drivers door sticker though...
Take a look and see what you got and let us know.
If all else fails...if you drive in OD at 65 and you are turning ~1800RPMs you have 3.73's.
If you drive in OD at 65 and are turning ~2200RPMs you have 4.30's.

If you notice in my post above I mention that some Ex's may NOT have the code on the door jamb. Have you looked on the rear cover (usually drivers side) of the rear differential for the little metal tag that is attached to one of the cover bolts? The code is back there too.
Are you specifically looking to see if you have a LS or not?
Because the RPM method (provided you haven't changed your tire size) is a very reliable way to tell as well (also in my post above). Now deciphering LS or non...well a code or a wet parking lot I guess would be the only way there!
Thanks Monsta for the tid-bit on the consonant...

I am pretty sure I have 4.30's as I am near 2200 RPMs at 65mph. I was just curious if I had the limited slip. I looked at that tag underneath once before, but if I recollect at the time I was having a tough time matching it up to any numbers I was reading. I will crawl under there this weekend and see what I can find out. I guess I could find a wet parking lot, again no water coming till the weekend.
Thanks,
Ryan

Could also try jacking up the rear of the truck, make a chauk mark on the third member and drive shaft across from each other, then spin the tire 1 complete revolution. if the drive shaft turns 3 3/4 times, 3.73. if little over 4 1/4-4.30. of, course this still wouldn't help with finding out about LS though. I believe with LS, both rear tires would spin opposite, with true locker spin same direction?

i think it is a requirement that it be on the certification lable..
so here it is...
<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">on the certification lable on the drivers door pillar there should be a place with the axle code ...

Ryan if the certification tag is missing, the housing tag is you best bet, followed by the other methods listed...you could also see if the ford dealer can print out a equipment list for you by using the vin number...

I looked at the tags on the differential today as the code is blank on the door jamb. However, the numbers on the tag don't appear to coincide with the list above. The tag reads:
138F
731059K04
According to what people have said RPM wise, I would have the 4.30's. I had the truck jacked up today and was going to watch the driveline spin as I turned the wheel as mentioned above, but the driveline didn't seem to turn (I must have done something wrong as I am no mechanic). I do know that when I turn one tire forward the other spins backwards.
