Hagan vent window removal kit

Hagan Street Rods besides their taillights and fuel doors, makes a nifty kit - 'vent window removal channels'. Also felts, scrapers and glass run channels are available.

Their vent window removal kit is 125.00, though Southern Rods carries it for 79.00... has anyone used these products, and if so then how did they pan out for you?

Secondly... has anyone used the universal felts and scrapers and window run channels from JC Whitney, and if so then how did those work out for you?

I used to order tons of stuff from JC Whitney way back in the late 80's when I had my first custom - a 1970 VW Bug, and never had any bad luck with the products. Their customer service has been shaky from time to time though, in my experience, so I hesitate as returning stuff there sucks.

I haven't used the places you mentioned, but I did replace all the rubber and felt, etc on my doors. I took a chance and bought mine at the automotive swap meet here in CA. You can see the quality of the items right there and it was cheaper than ordering, plus I didn't have to wait for the parts in the mail. I've used JC Whitney for a few items and they are about as good as anyone else. A lot of people in here use F100 aftermarket places like Mid fifties, Bob's F100's, Sacramento Vintage to name a few. If you look around you might find a better price. I paid $110.00 for everything including vent rubber door rubber, and the complete window felt, for both doors.

I'm removing the vent windows and putting in 1 piece windows, and I'm also going to need enough for the rear window, as it will roll up and down as well, just like the door windows so the stuff needs to be custom, which complicates it a bit..

I like the one piece windows, but I also like the vents especially on hot days. rear window rolling up and down? Wow! that is very cool, and probably a first. There are a few companies out there that will make you custom stuff, can't think of any off hand though.

Someone was on here last summer with some serious fit-up problems on the power rear window kit. Worth doing a search.

I have the rear window planned out, and the inner window frame is already removed, as well as the lip that the inner frame was spotwelded to, and am fabbing the window guide channels. It's a flat piece of glass that will be a little larger than the original. The only thing that I see giving me a potential problem is the width of the window... being over 4' wide I am pretty confident that my plans for a custom channel/guide setup keeps it from trying to bind by tipping right to left. I saw a similar setup on a '49 Ford 4 door sedan that had been converted into a pickup... it was gorgeous.. he cut it off about 6-8" behind the front doors... it looked like it came from the factory that way.
The doors - there is a curve due to the vent window, but I already trimmed out that whole opening and am building and welding in the new sheet metal to straighten that out this weekend (love the 3 day weekend) so it will be a flat piece of glass.
I need to track down some window felts/stripping.
I'll get a gallery started here real soon... then I can illustrate better what I'm doing.
I tried to search for that thread you mentioned, Ross, but I keep getting a page that states that I do not have permission to search...

Jon - make sure you are logged in, sometimes that will keep you from searching. But, I think it keeps you from posting, too.

I know they've been having problems with the site, and often turn the search off, when they do, to preserve bandwidth, etc.

I got my one piece window kit from Vintage Glass in Georgia. I paid $250 for all felts. channels, and tinted windows. They used original regulators which were in good shape. I installed them in a couple hours and they look and work good. I have removed them until I get truck painted and the felts between windows at bottom will be glued in. This was for a 1948 F-1. I see these guys at the Autofair in Charlotte NC. every spring and fall. They have a lot of glass and other things available for old cars and trucks.
