Rear suspension clunk, clunk noise???

I tried searching but couldn't find a good answer.

What is the cause of the "clunk, clunk" noise in the rear when you drive at an angle over a steep curb? Is it the leaf springs shifting or something? I have a steep driveway curb so I hear this noise everyday. Only happens though at an angle when one wheel at a time goes up over the curb. When both wheels go up over the curb at the same time, I don't hear the clunking.

Any suggestions? I'm going check this weekend if any bolts are loose. thanks.

Steve

It might be axle end play, on my 07' I can jack up rear wheels and pull tire out and in with the play in it.

thanks, I guess I'll chalk it up to axle play then. I checked and nothing was loose. I recently put on LT-rated tires so the stiffer tires give less and I guess I get/can hear the clunk more because of the axle play.

I have the same problem with mine, and am pretty sure its the slip joint in the drive shaft. With the cold weather here it doesn't do it much so I have to wait till spring before I can get the dealer to look at it, since they need to recreate the sound with their tech in the vehicle
