Its much less work to weld the little piston oil feed hole inside.
I have done a few with a heli coil/set screw/locktight.
You must have been bored or wanted to practice.

Ah but then that barrel is still in the way for removing that one bolt. But you don't have that much problem with that dog house off. but then again it only takes me 10 minutes to do a fuel filter!!! I hate vans!! But i do want a Quigley!!

Whoo wee. I never thought my question and missunderstanding of the EBP sensor's function would get a whirlwind going. I read Ford's description publication and it showed the EBP sensor wired into the PCM and I know the data stream monitors it because it shows up on the Edge tuner diagnostic screen that I hooked up. The manual also hinted, and I say hinted, because it said that the PCM monitors several sensors to set the timing. My mistake there.

My truck actually runs crappier after it warms up, so I disconnected the EBP wiring at the sensor, not the turbo, and it runs better, but still feels weak. I am hoping that it is not an injector problem. But after reading c00n's explanation, I might as well leave it unhooked.

C00n: I also noticed in the data stream that my oil temp never hit 170 degrees except for a few minutes driving 70 mph and as soon as I slowed down it dropped back to around 155 degrees. My water temp never reaches the N in normal and always seems to stay around the line just before normal. Is it possible that I need to put the 203 thermostat mod in and perhaps replace the EOT sensor?

I guess I really just need to take it by a Ford dealer and have them run diagnostics including the buzz test and cylinder contribution test to get something concrete.

Thank you all for your input, time, and knowledge.

in colder weather its perfectly normal to not stay at the constatn 170 degrees in oil temp, your sensor is fine, i would unplug the 2 wire connector under the turbo rather then the sensor just because i hate knowing codes are stored in my pcm. with the oil temp staying below 170 the ford dealer cant run a cylinder contribution test for you and if it does get above 170 and drops during the test it will kick out of the test.

as for the coolant temp, mine is doing exactly what yours is, i may try the 203 stat in mine to try and raise the temps up but it will run fine at the temps you are hitting now.

what sort of performance mods are done to your truck and what do you mean by it still feels weak?

The only mods are the ones listed in my signature. I will give you a senario with the EBP hooked up. I leave home and drive about 3 miles easy to warm everything up. Keep in mind that my truck (5sp with 355's) only runs about 1600 rpms at 55-60 mph. Before the truck really warms up, I can push the pedal to the floor and it will smoothly accelerate and really start taking off when the rpm;s pass 2000. Everything is fine, engine not entirely warmed up, and I am happy with everything. Then, after driving maybe 50 miles and I know the engine is as warm as it is going to get, I can accelerate the same way and it is almost as if the engine is trying to miss until it hits 2000 rpms. Then it takes off with a kick of power. The warmer the weather is, the worse it seems to be. Our temperatures are moderate here in Georgia, not what you might be used to.

I unplugged the EBP sensor at the sensor and the truck runs much better, but I can still tell the problem is there, just not so amplified. The 7.3 has so many sensors for input that I don't know where to start looking for the problem or if I will ever find it. Part of me wants to blame it on the injectors somehow, but my feeble brain cannot figure out why an injector would act up at low rpms and not at 2000 and above.

I do appreciate your time and information. This little problem just has me confused.
