Ive always thought about how fast that screen would get trashed. Between me laying on it to work on stuff, and shoving tools and keys and stuff in my pocket it would get scratched to chit, and how i talk while driving is i put my phone on speaker and set it on the seat next to me and just shout (works great, i probably look insane so just in case the loud-as-hell 5000lb truck being driven like a mustang isnt enuff incentive to stay off my *** in traffic they can think im crazy too)
And if i have to slam on my brakes (or drop the hammer to blow the doors off a toyleta) my phone gets slammed around quite a bit.
I would give the iphone about 3 days before it was toast...

The iPhone and iPod Touch are pretty much the same...biggest difference is that the iPhone is a phone.
I have an iPod Touch. It is COOL! Here is a video to show how scratch resistant it is: http://youtube.com/watch?v=kzbxpSwDetk

With the other $500...let's see...I got a grille guard for the Explorer, spent a hundred at the casino, put $118.50 in my flight account, and still have enough money for food at the end of the day.
Amazing or not, you'll never convince me a cell phone/iPod clone is worth $600.

My little brother bought one and had to send it in for warranty repairs twice since he bought it a few months ago. The left side of the screen went dead on him, and the screen is how the whole thing operates. I wouldnt blow that kind of cash on a phone to start with, much less a phone that I cannot insure. I always get whatever phone is being offered for less than $100 at the time I need a new one. I use the phone to make and receive calls, and take a pic when my camera is not nearby. If I want to listen to music, I have a radio, type out a message or surf the internet, I have a computer.

I use the phone that the company gives me for free when I sign the plan. Then I get the 4 buck a month converage over all kinds of breakage..... then I get a new, free phone every few months. I've broken screens, broken off the flip part thingy, dropped it and cracked the shell, I'm basically murder on phones. There is NO way I would ever actaully pay for something that's going to get broken. Typing on that touch screen sucked, my fingers would hit more than one button (if a touch screen has buttons?) at once.

I can understand how it is a cool gadget when it is still new and you are playing with it. But after a couple months when you are sitting at your home computer, and realize that this is the computer that you use all the time anyhow, and the iphone that you paid $600 is really only used like your moms Nokia, to make and receive calls, than you kind of rethink it. My little brother bought his just to say he had one, and now he regrets it. If you are the type of person to actually need internet on a phone, where a laptop would not work, a Treo and several other phones have a full keyboard available to type instead of that touchscreen.

I still use my scratched up LG from 2 years ago. Not only has it been submerged in water, it has a music player, internet browser, camera, video camera and actual buttons!! I don't understand apple's marketing. What phone made in the last 2 years doesn't have this stuff? The iphone doesn't have buttons, and it can't even record video!! Luckily they have an army of apple zealots that buy whatever crap they come out with, no matter how overpriced it is or what "new" features it comes with.
