Hey guys we have all seen the new trucks. The features etc. Also Dodge has come out with there new trucks. GMs got theres an Toyota is nipping at the heals off Ford with there offerings. So everybodies trucks are all up to date an all new. Off all the years Ford has made trucks they havent faced any tougher competion then this year. Fords managed to keep F series on top for years an years an has been testamnet to the quality in these trucks. So to the answer to my question yes there will be a new 2009 150 in my future. How about you? Im pretty brand loyal so its Ford or nothing. But loyalty anymore might be hard to find. This will be an intersting year to say the least as far as truck sales are concerned. Stay tuned.
Until recently, I had been a loyal Ford owner my whole life. Heck, even way back when, my "Senior Quote" in my High School Year Book said "If you only make one right choice in life, make it a Ford". Over the past few years however, other companies have just been offering much better products, better warrenties, beter engine power options, better standard features, better technology, etc. I'll be honest, I've been waiting to see what the new F-150 was going to be before I decided between an F-150 and a Tundra. It's hard to say yet, since Ford doesn't want to release the HP and TQ numbers, which is going to be a prime factor in my decision. I even went to a Ford customer satisfaction in-person survey a few months back, where they asked all sorts of questions about why I don't have a Ford anymore, what would it take to get me back, etc. I was so excited to see them doing this because I hoped they would take my suggestions to heart. I realize the F-150 was long since developed by that point, but I hope the future brings Ford back into the mainstream and up to current standards of performance and technology.
Yes my next truck will be a Ford. I like what they have done in the new F150 and the new superdutys. I really like the new F150 but we will see if I need more towing capacity in the next 2 years or so and if thats the case I will be moving up to the superduty.

Not get off topic a bit here. But the guy that headed Fords truck team developing this truck has been with Ford since 1978. An waht I have read really know his stuff as far as trucks are concerned. Il, have to get the article where it had a whole story about him. But I thought that was kind off neat. Toyota is definilty a force in the truck wars an has made the Big 3 step up to the plate with quality an dependability which have improved dramatically.
Im surprised I guess power an torque do sell these trucks. Frankly I think they all have plenty anymore. If I couldget 10 less horse an 5 more miles per gallon then I do now I would go that route. I think fuel mileage would be a priority on these trucks not horsepower. Remeber these are half tons not superduities. I guess we got to blame Dodge for the half tons getting bigger all the time. I still wish I could get a smaller half ton like the old generation F150s back in the early to mid 90s. Frankly I think the 09s look great. I cant see nothing horrid about them. But I suppose they will be more expensive though.
Well that's just it, everyone else has engine technology that helps save gas, (Dodge specifically) and yes, I would swap 10 HP for 5 mpg, but when's the last time anyone gave an increase of 5 mpg? That's a huge increase for trucks and likely not realistic...yet....
Well as far as I know all the trucks get bad miles per gallon. Even GMs new trucks which are supposed to be fuel efficient arnt either. The older generation was better. I think 5 mpg is realistic an we will probably see that in the next five years or so. How or why is the unknown question.
No, my next truck will be a 93 Chev. 4x4, short box stepside, std. 5 speed, carburated 350. (It's is my brothers truck, and will be my get to work vehicle)
I currently use my 97 Expedition for driving to work during the winter months $$$ (an excellent truck just not for cummuting a 1hr drive eachway for work).
When the expy dies I probably will get a 2007 f-250 gas or diesel, but not a 2009 unless the stock power numbers, and fuel efficiency are very good, because the new design doesn't interest me at all.
I would like to downsize from my 4X4 Super Duty, but unless Ford offers the 4.4 diesel or the turbo V-6 options, I'll wait until the specs come out on them. I've come to the conclusion that, if I buy another truck, fuel economy has to be my primary concern. By the time they are introduced, fuel prices could be up another quarter to fifty cents/gal with a strong probablility that they will continue to increase during the time I own this next truck. Also, I will probably not be buying a 4X4 for the first time since 1972. If I can't find a Ford F-150 that can get 20 mpg for my type of driving then I may just keep my current truck (which averages 16mpg) until it falls apart.
My next truck will be a GMC Sierra or a Tundra. Ford's F150 is a dissapointment. It has the worst HP ratings, the worst MPG ratings and the worst warranty on it's drivetrain.
I was interested in the new Fords because they are the only ones who offer a 6.5' bed on their CC models.( dont like Dodge so they are out)
Poor Ford quality in the past on my last three ford F150's will have me looking at GMC or Toyota unless we see some major upgrades to the drivetrain and some awesome reliability #'s in the near future.
I am in the market next year, and until I see some engine #'s from Ford, I'm running to the Dodge dealership.
It took me awhile to warm up to the "boxy" style of the 04-08's. I do like them now, but this 09 looks horrid.
LOL...I never warmed up to the 1997-2003 F150's..
To me, with its droopy snout, it looked wimpy.
Prior to 1997, all Ford F Series trucks were boxy.
2009 F150? No...I'm waiting till Ford installs the 6.2 gasser.
When the 2009's hit the showrooms, I plan on evaluating one...hopefully the hard thinly padded seats of the 2004/2008's have gone bye bye.
AND the brakes have been improved!
I've purchased 7 new Ford trucks: 1965 / 1968 / 1971 / 1979 / 1988 / 1992 / 2004. Will the new F150 be #8? Dunno.
