Sure Ford offers a lot of differnt F150 configs, but they don't offer a CC/8'box. And the fuel milage is the same as it has been for 20 years. We'll see what the Diesel and EcoBoost do for MPG.
I'll stick with what brung me , untill we see what they do.

After the crap ford has put me through with my 04, on principal alone I shouldn't even consider buying a ford. That being said, if they really put out something awesome, something that is just clearly the best by all standards by everyone that see's / drives it. I might consider test driving that vehicle. The 09 f150 looks like it misses that mark on several major fronts. So I will either be going back to Dodge, or maybe a Nissan will be in my future.
Are they going to be using a 5 or 6 speed auto? If not, then no way. I'm tired of 4 speeds.
I'm sure that I'll be disappointed in the power #s as Ford is always near or at the bottom of the pack so those extra gears would be nice. Whenever the diesel is available, it will probably cost close to what the SD diesel costs.
I like the looks and styling of F150s as far back as I can recall, so I'm in there.
My points are kind of moot though, as my next truck is most likely a Superduty (Hopefully 08+ PSD) or 2500 Mega Cab w/Cummins and 6 speed manual.
I'm just tired of driving under powered, under geared 1/2 ton Fords.
I would go SD but I honestly don't need the payload capacity or rougher riding chassis/suspension. I just want the longevity of the diesel motor and hopefully some decent numbers on the fuel mileage.
Please, let it be something worth killing the other mfg's.
So it looks like if you want to stay with FORD it's a 2 or 3 Year wait ahead
1 year min untill new power options
1 year to work out bugs (on new gasser)
2 Years to work out bugs (on new Diesel)
I just hope the fuel economy gains on the new truck are not tied to the new 6 speed transmission. GM's new 6 speed has no direct ratio. Fourth gear is underdrive and both fifth and sixth are overdrive. Fine for a diesel engine but kind of awkward for a medium sized gasoline engine.
But no, it's not likely an '09 will be my next truck. I was really hoping for a much needed styling and design change for the new F150. Both inside and out. But I find the color combinations and design looks of the dash/console and interior very unappealing.
I do like the front on view of the cab. They should have kept going with that theme from nose to tail. Instead it looks diminished. Like a shepard's head on a terrier's body.
It's not Ford's fault that I don't like it. I must not be part of the demographic they are marketing it to. But I do find it a bit frustrating that after owning heavy duty Ford pickups for so many years, the first time I want a light duty pickup the F150 just seems so alien to me.
If Ford doesn't put more power in there then I will go buy an 08 F-150 with all the rebates for a lot cheaper. No matter what my next truck would be a Ford, but they have to give me reasons to pay probably 5-6,000 more for that truck and a big part of that means putting more power in there.

I might buy one in like 5 years but I'm not really in the market for a new vehicle. If i had the money though I'd buy one if it had a 6.2l (Because i would have the money for the gas) But if i really had the money and the 6.2l didnt have 403hp then I'd get a new GMC Sierra Denali...
Sure I would buy the new F150. I'll probably wait for the diesel, but then agaian I have a 2007 with 12000 miles and a 5 year ESP. Also what difference does a few extra Horses matter, the horsepower ratings between the differnt manufacturers is so slight it makes no difference. Each manufacturer has features that some people like and others do not. For example the GM's have rear drum brakes, the Toyota's chasis has alot of flex which causes severe bed bounce and the Dodge has issues of it's own. The overall package and the technology in the new Ford beats the other guys hands down. If your so concerned about towing the brake/sway control is worth it's wieght in gold. I had an F250 with the brake control and it was great. I would not jump off the Ford bandwagon, they build a fine truck. Everybody else wants to be where Ford is. I question some of the above comments and wonder if they have another agenda. Just my thoughts and opinion.
