I like the extra storage, but would have loved to see some compartments under the bed box level, like the titan has in the back, but larger. Would be very nice to be able to store hitches, tow straps, drinks in the compartments, but with a camper shell on there (like i have now) they would be utterly useless.
I think it's a great idea. Most large items can't be any larger than the wheelwells anyway, so it would be a good place to keep towing supplies and such.
I've only seen them junkyards and really rusted away, but does anybody remember the under the bed toolboxes from the mid 70's Ford trucks? I've always wondered if that was a factory option, or an aftermarket mod? I would love to have something like for my truck, a great place for hitches, tow ropes, tie downs, etc. Stuff you keep in your truck all the time that just gets in the way.

something like that would be great, storage without loosing bed space.
I have a 1971 Chev Camper Special with the tool box, it is a great little option, fiberglass box, no rust (of course I'm in Southern Nevada, nothing rusts here) anything you put in is filthy dusty, but good place for flares, chains, little things to carry outside of bed or cab. I'd love to see it again.

You actually do lose bed space with the boxes. By closing off the front/ rear space in front of the wheel wells you reduce the cu. ft. of space in the bed.

What I was referring to was a storage locker that was truly under the bed, with a door through the lower fender in front of the tire. Standing in the bed of the truck you'd never know it was there.

Besides the mid-box, there's also a cargo management system that positions optional boxes over the wheelwells. They have a drainplug in them, so you can use them for coolers like the Dodge does. I don't think it'll hold the same number of unitized beverages, but I'd be OK tossing a cooler or two in the back too if I had to make up the difference.
My dad ordered a new 1969 F100 Ranger with the toolbox on the front lower right side of the bed.
