I buy what ever is the best price and I don't care if little children in asia make my shoes for $.02 a day. I pay more for AMERICAN goods if I can get them (just because I can ) like my big red FORD.
never said i recommended anything. i recommend what ever floats your boat.
but to debate the merits of it pass personal preference, people (not pointing out you) should have some solid basis for thier argument as to the whys and why nots pass some blind arrogant baseless thing.
people are quick to jump on bandwagons without as to much of a detailed thought as to why pass what someone told them or what they saw on tv.
for example, i can say "i like ford trucks" and thats fine, but i better have my ducks in the row when i say "ford trucks are the best". now i should logically submit proof as to why a ford truck is better than all the others.

it is anybodys choice where they buy their fuel. if you want to buy government owned fuel from a government that openly makes it clear he hates our government its your choice. the same with employees of any company it their choice nobody is forced to work anywhere for any company. we dont need to berate those that choose not to work or support citgo.
what does a logo (i.e. advertising) have to do with it?
show me where ford reccomends using bp fuel only. not saying it doesn't, just i would like to see it.
Sorry. I should have been much more specific. I have since traded in the Ranger and replaced the Fusion cap with a locking version.
I could be wrong on the Ranger but I think it said that Ford recommended using BP fuel, and included the logo. There was also mention in the owners manual.

I do not see anywhere in this thread where someone said that Ford recommended using a certain fuel ONLY.
I realize this has nothing to do with Diesel prices but you said you had never seen Ford recommend a specific brand of fuel.
Touch down yes yes...A few years ago they recommended Shell and I have been looking for that write up..

you would think that ford, since it is getting its rear handed to them by foreign competition, would do itself a favor and not endorse a foreign company.
heck, people left and right are preaching "buy american" while in the mean time a major automotive manufactorer is promoting a foreign company. sort of takes the heart out of the buy american crusade.

well, lets see, a few off the top of my head...i am no expert so i may be wrong, but exxon/mobile, texaco, chevron, conaco, and more.
or i could be wrong...there are no american oil firms.
I too could be wrong but i was always under the impression that Oil giants headquarters are right here in the US - the oil itself comes from everywhere but the us (middle east, mexico, european countries, russia) Im sure a VERY VERY small % comes from the united states if any.

bp may be a forein owned company but much of their operation and wells are in the us.
I have read that the problem people are facing with E85 is that to run E85 and regular gas, you have to have a low compression ration. But they also say if you up the compression or turbo it, you get pretty good mileage. In other words, they are trying to make a gasser run on biodiesel type stuff but it gets terrible efficiency because it is not compressed enough. I am thinking of getting a 300 I6 f150 and turboing it and running it on E85. This is the only thing cheaper I can think of besides making your own diesel, that is why I haven't said anything about diesel fuel, it is going to take all your money from here on out so we have to do something different. Biodiesel would work if they would price it the same as E85, but instead they jack the price up even higher than diesel (they do here anyways) so we are screwed no matter what. Get a jetta TDI if you want a diesel, otherwise, you are going to pay. Just the way I see it. But of course you can't break me from my 12mpg daily 30mile driven IDI.. I will cut back on other things LOL
