Filters

Try Fleetfilter - www.fleetfilter.com - good prices,They sell NAPA GOLD (Wix Filters)

I buy enough from them to last a while to even out the shipping costs.

Just so you know, the 6637 is a mod were you remove your stock air box and install the 6637. Walmart has oil filters cheapest usually.

You can see the 6636 in my gallery, smaller pic as my aviator. I do have Pet's filter cover on it, so can't really see the filter itself. Give you an idea how big it is.

wix filters are by far the best! fram, ac delco, and purolator are a joke!
cut your old filter open and look to see how much filter media is in there. also look at what is used to preload the bypass valve. wix uses an actual spring. most manufacturers use a piece of bent stamped sheet metal, this design can fatigue quickly. it will just bypass the filer media. ive never looked inside a motorcraft so it might be good?? if im doing my own oil change i use a wix premium filter everytime. if the wife takes it to the dealer with her coupon it gets a motorcraft filter. jmho

Yeah that was my bad I should have said that the 6637 is a mod. It is a good mod the 6637 is a much better filter than the stock. You do have to remove the stock air box and move the air temp sensor. But it is well worth doing this mod if you ask me it is cheap and easy.

Stay away from Fram filters, they are serious junk. They are hyped up through marketing, but they put out an inferior product.

I had an ACDelco air filter where the plastic bullet came loose from the pleated filter and let who knows how much unfiltered air into my V-10.

Serves me right for putting a GM part in my Ford.

Baldwin filters are not a real known name but I am told they rate the highest in testing. Made for the commercial market mostly but they have applications to fit light duty trucks. May be worth a look. I have been using the oil filters a few years. No complaints.

Since this thread is in the Super Duty forum I feel that it is important that people make sure to include what engine they are talking about buying filters for.

I cannot comment about the gas engines or the 6.4L and 7.3L, but for the 6.0L Racor filters are the only way to go. Motorcraft, Fram, new Purolator, and a few other filters are all repackaged Racor made filters. There are many threads about this in the 6.0L forum along with pictures to help you make sure you get the correct filter for your engine. It should be a one piece element, and have a bunch of patent numbers on the end. The filters with a snap on end have been known to cause issues with the 6.0L

Quaker State oil filters are good. On my 5.4 I had the dealer installed Ford filter leak at the gasket and a Fram that I did myself (never again). The gasket material seems to matter here.
(also use QS 05-20 in the f250 and have always used QS 10-40 in my '89 5.0 pony and my wifes 92 Mazda 323....both still going strong....good oil)
