Leak at master cylinder and brake booster

My truck is leaking brake fluid in between the master cylinder and brake booster. I got on autozones website to see it there was a gasket in between the two, and couldnt find one. So I did some more searching and one guy told me it was proabably a seal inside of the master cylinder. So if this is the case should I just by a rebuild kit for it, or a whole new one?

Just get a new MC.

The NEW MC costs 33.99 at the zone, the rebuild kit is 32.99.

Thumbs down

Yeah, and don't wait. The brake fluid will ruin your brake booster. Ask me how I know.

Be sure to know your GVW if it is an F250 or 350. Because over 8600# & under 8600# are different.

F250's come in two flavors, over and under 8600 GVWR. If your door tag is still there, it'll be on there. If it's an ex cab, it's probably a HD, if it has a 460 or diesel it definitely is. If it has a full floater rear, it probably is a HD.
The single/double probably refers to the calipers, but, I think the LD F250's have duals also. Could also be referring to the booster being single(under 8600) diaphragm or dual(over 8600.)
If it's been leaking for any amount of time, I'd suggest buying both, they are available as an assembly, and I think it's around $100 or so.

Be careful on my 82 I found out there are 3 master cylinders available. The light duty single piston, middle duty double piston and over 8600lbs. Make sure you know otherwise you will spend more time running than anything. If you have the inbetween master cylinder don't try to use the over 8600lbs one. The fitting are different and I was unable to make it work. I found out the hard way.

I had to replace the vacuum booster because of the leaking MC.

Well I dont have a door tag and im not sure what a full floating rear is. The specs are a 1981 f250, reg cab, long bed, 351m(factory), and t18. Not sure if it was a heavy duty because the badges are gone.

I bought a master cylinder and booster combo from Napa and it came with a lifetime warranty and I have used it three times in 8 yrs so I think it was money well spent I think it was a $100.00 for the whole set up.
